Saturday's Hard Labor

I wish this was about me giving birth, lol.. but nope, it's a Tom post! Yesterday we spent the day at Kirty and Dan's, they are slowly adding on to their patio, and Tom jumped at the chance to play with cement, lol. I think afterwards his body was realizing he's not a teenager anymore, but it was great to see him out there working with his hands and getting dirty. :)

Dan and Kirty are amazing friends that help us out tons, so it was great to be able to help them out too. And their kids are hilarious. While digging up the ground they found some worms and Tom asked Quentin to come pick them up, and Quentin (just turned 4) said "i don't like to get bugs and worms on my hands" so his dad asked him what he DID like to get on his hands, and he said "Soap and Water" LOL, he is definitely Kirty's son! Tom and Dan now have plans to take him camping and de-brainwash him, lol.

Anyway, it was fun to spend the day with those crazies! Here's some proof for those of you who doubt my honey's participation in manual labor :)

Pieces of the puzzle coming together

well the nursery is coming along :) really all we need is the parts to put the crib together. I got this bookcase at ikea and i think it really supplied the last missing part. I'm so excited about how cute its all turning out. As soon as I get the crib put together i'll post a total nursery picture, but here's what i just did. :)

Las Vegas Baby Shower

After long delay, here's some pics of the baby shower Anna, Shana and Kathryn threw for me in Las Vegas!

Everyone was so nice and I can't believe how generous people are. The food was delicious and the decorations were great! My Grandma drove down from St. George so Lavinia would know somebody there, ;) and my friend Abby who recently moved to Henderson from SLC drove over. And of course so many of the cute women in Tom's family, and some amazing people in Kathryn's ward. I just want to say THANK YOU! to everyone again, for making this experience special and for caring so much! And Thanks to Anna, Shana and Kathryn for a great party!!

The Wait Goes On

Well I'm still prego, lol. But I've been having a lot of fun and continuing all the little things I've left to get ready, nothing super crucial, but nice to have done. A friend of mine told me I should try and plan something to look forward to, (that I couldn't do if the baby came), every couple of days so that if the baby doesn't come I still have XYZ to do :) So I'm trying to do that.

This weekend was a great example, I was in charge of teaching the RS lesson on Sunday and was really hoping to get out of it, lol. Well, obviously she didn't show and so I went ahead and taught, but I wasn't too upset, because I had a pregnancy massage set up for monday! The massage was amazing! i felt totally and utterly spoiled, and it was so nice to have 8 months of aches and kinks and soreness worked on by someone who knew what they were doing.. sigh.. so nice. My cute hubby totally spoils me!

Today IKEA opens just down the street from me, I was gonna wait out the craziness and go later but my cousin Collete is in town and her and her sister Janell are going so I'm gonna waddle along after them. It should be exciting to see, everyone's all thrilled that IKEA came.

Okay, here's a picture that doesn't really have anything to do with my post for the week, lol. But i just thought it was so cute. Here's tom working away while our 'first child' sleeps on his tummy. I can just tell by how sweet he is to fred, what a great dad he's gonna be.

Bring it on!

Well it's official! The baby is now 'Full Term' and legal to be delivered at the Birth Center! So let the games begin! Tonight Tom and I took a drive up Big Cottonwood Cayon. We've heard that one of the things that can bring on labor is high altitudes. Supposedly it thins your blood and hopefully your cervix. We ate dinner at this cool little place up the mountain. The food was yummy and the view was great! It was nice to get away from the house and spend some time together. Maybe tomorrow we'll take a long walk or eat some spicy food. My grandma swears that mopping the floor on your hands and knees will bring on labor, but i'm not that desperate yet, lol.

I've packed the diaper bag (i got that one in the picture I posted before), and am mostly done packing our bags for when it happens. it's hard to pack cuz a lot of the things i want to take i use every day. I think we have everything we need for the baby, it's so weird.. this is really gonna happen! Ah! :D

Happy Mother's Day!!

I'm not sure if I should count today as my first mothers day or not, but I'm definitely celebrating it :). I was afraid Tom wasn't going to count it, he hadn't really said anything about it, and I can usually tell when he's planning something, so I was all prepared to be sad. However, the cutie came home yesterday with the coolest present and took me out to dinner to celebrate, totally surprised me!! And honestly just having him acknowledge me as a 'mother' and that this was a special day for me, was all i really wanted. Not that dinner and presents aren't nice. ;)

The present was the video camera I'd really wanted us to get before the baby was born. I'd tried talking to him about getting it before and he didn't seem to think it was a crucial purchase, and I was still trying to figure out how to talk him into getting one. I was so shocked that he went and got it! I hung out with Kirty yesterday afternoon and we talked about what we thought our hubbies would do for M day, and she totally called it. She said "Oh, what if Tom gets you the video camera!" I laughed at her! lol. I said there was no way. lol. Tom says he can never surprise me, but he sure did yesterday! I'm so excited to use it!! But just in case anyone is wondering, NO I am NOT filming the birth!! I'm sorry, but no one needs to see that 'side' of me. *ick*

Anyway, I wanna wish all the super Mom's out there a Happy Mothers Day!! I can't believe I'm becoming one of you!! Heaven help poor Ainsley, lol. Thanks for all the great examples you've been!!!

And to all the awesome Moms-to-Be, I *know* today is hard, but I know Heavenly Father loves us, and have witnessed that miracles do happen. However we all eventually start our families, and the struggles we face, please know you are special and I'm thinking of you today.

And Last but certainly not Least! A special shout out to my mom!! I love you!!!

Jack Johnson Fan in the Womb

So I've decided Ainsley likes Jack Johnson. :) Especially the curious george soundtrack, it's such sweet, mellow, happy music. I listen to it alot, so maybe she likes it because she hears it alot... or I've heard that at this stage when you are happy they can tell and it makes them happy, and Jack always makes me happy. Anyway, I'm really curious if she'll respond at all to the music after she's born.

Someone told us, I forget who, that they listened to a lot of Enya when they were pregnant and after the baby was born whenever they put on Enya the baby would calm down. That's so cool!

Oh, we had our last birth class! We graduated! WooHoo! Tom's got a little card saying he's an official 'Birth Coach'. He says since he's a coach wants to get a little whistle, and I've told him there's no guarantee where that whistle will end up during birth,.. if you know what i mean ;).

Tom appreciation post

Okay, this may be totally sappy, feel free to skip over this post, but today I'm just really feeling pro-Tom :)
I've been listening to the Dave Matthews cover of the Beatles "In My Life". It was our first dance at our wedding, and I decided it totally sums up how I feel about my silly wonderful husband. And Dave sings it so sweetly, so simple, just him and a guitar, (and a super piano solo).. it's beautiful, you should all check it out if you can find it :) Anyway, just talks about how he's been through a lot, and known a lot of people and that none of them compare to this special person.. anyway, Tom never looks here, so he won't know, he'd probably just be embarrassed if he did, but here's my little shout out to the universe about how much i love my Tom.

"In My Life" Lyrics -
There are places I remember
All my life, though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places had their moments
With lovers and friends
I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I've loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers
there is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more

Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more

Crib problems, Contractions and Shopping

The baby craziness continues! Our crib arrived!!! Unfortunately it arrived without some crucial little metal pieces needed to put it together. They have ordered them, so now we just have to sit around and wait. Who knows when it will get here. Sigh, oh well.

In other news, still growing a person :) I can officially have her at the birth center as of next Thursday, so it's kinda freaking me out. I'm starting to have crazy contractions and today my midwife said that my body is getting itself ready, and i have this feeling that she's going to come early. Maybe I'm crazy, i guess we'll see. All i know is this is not much fun anymore, lol.

Here's me today at the mall:)

looking at bags, what do you guys think of this as a diaper bag? does it look big enough??
