Growing a Person

This week I am 30 weeks along, and getting very excited and very nervous. We've been taking Bradley Birth Classes. It's 12 classes, one every Thursday, we finish up the first week of May. They are pretty in depth and informative, and I've really enjoyed them. I'm planning on delivering the baby naturally and wanted as much help as i could get.

I was a little worried about how Tom would do with the classes, but he's been great! He loves finding out all the information and he's really gotten behind the whole natural child birth idea. I also think it's really helped him understand what I'm going through. We talk about lots of different aspects of pregnancy and birth and I think it gives him a better idea what my body is doing and what to expect. I think it also helps him to feel more a part of the whole thing.

The first time we watched a video of a baby actually being born, i have to admit, it totally freaked me out. But I'm glad I did, I am starting to feel more prepared for it. I know a lot of people think i'm nuts for wanting to go naturally, but the more I learn, the more I really believe this is the right decision for me. We are delivering at a place here called the Birth and Family Place, it's beautiful! The rooms look like a Bed and Breakfast, I'm very excited about giving birth in such a beautiful place, and then they still have some equipment, in case of things happening, so I feel better about it than if i was just doing a home birth.

Of course we know anything can happen and if things do go wrong, and we do need actual medical help there is a hospital close by. All we can do is prepare. My mother is convinced nothing will go wrong. She says the women of our family are built for birth and we have safe labors.. i hope she isn't jinxing me! :)

Either way, it's too late to go back now, the baby is gonna come out! :) She seems ready to go, she already has her head down, and she's been moving around like crazy lately. i can't believe we only have 2 months left!
