First Dentist Appt

Flipping through a local magazine and saw that dentist appts before children are two are free, so I decided to see what Ains would think of the dentist. She didn't get x-rays or anything, it's mostly just to get her used to going to the dentist and to make sure all her teeth are coming in without any problems.

We picked her dentist cuz they had such a cute waiting room play area.

She colored while we waited

The dentist assistant was very nice, Ainsley won her over right away.
When she opened the door and called her name Ainsley ran right over with her arms outstretched for this girl she'd never seen before to pick her up.
I swear, she isn't scared of anything and sees no one as a stranger.

Ains did pretty good. When she had to lay down for the Dr. to look in her mouth she cried,
but it was over quickly and she didn't throw any big fit. She got a new tooth brush and a hippo for her troubles. I was very proud of her. Hopefully when we come back next time and she gets x-rays she'll be less freaked out because we've been there before.

Our First Real Owie

Poor little Ains, who is trying to figure out this whole 'walking' stuff she keeps hearing about, was working her way along the side of the couch, when she lost her grip and fell face first onto the next part of the couch.. which is normally a perfectly safe soft cushion, but at this moment happened to be supporting her daddy's laptop. At first we thought she'd just scared herself.. until the sippy cup mouth we'd given her to try and calm her, came back out covered in blood.

It looks like she'd busted the skin on her gums right above her front teeth. Her teeth were all covered in blood.. it was a sad, scary sight. As the mean mom that I am, I tried to take a picture, but she didn't really cooperate. But if you look closely you can see the blood around her mouth.. poor lil lady. The blood stopped after a minute, so we think she's ok. Man, having a toddler is gonna be scary.

Oh, and in other news, we had her one year check up yesterday.
She is 29 3/4 in tall, putting her in the 75th percentile for Height.
She weighs 17lbs 8oz, putting her in the 18th percentile for Weight.
So our goal now is to fatten her up. I was a scrawny little baby when i was little, so it could just be genetics, but we're gonna try and get some meat on those bones. Her suggested diet is full of things I'd love to have on mine. :) In all other respects she is a normal, healthy little girl.

Cereal Killer

My little milk drinker is now an eater. :) Sunday night we had dinner at my sister Candice's house and since we were going to be having a family dinner i thought it would be a fun time to have *everyone*eat. I brought the rice cereal I bought weeks ago and hadn't been able to get myself to use yet, and we all sat down to eat :) I didn't make very much because i wasn't sure what she'd think of it, but she wolfed it down. She got mad when it was all gone! It was fun to feed her with a spoon, she kept grabbing at it. That's something new she's doing a lot of lately.. grabbing. :) Since then we've fed her cereal a couple more times, and she's been a good eater each time. The Bumbo chair has been great for this, she's not really ready to sit in her high chair, and i have no idea how i'd do it while holding her. It's so fun to see all the new things her growing adds to our lives. I love my happy little girl. :)

My Baby's Moved Out!!

of our room, that is. She has been sleeping by our bed in a cradle Tom's grandpa made for him to sleep him when he was a baby. All of his siblings slept in it as babies, and so far all of their kids have slept in it. We've even got handprints of all the grandbabies on the side of it. We're making it a family traditon. :)

I decided at the beginning of this week that she's been such a great sleeper, and if we were gonna make this transition easily it needed to be now. I also want to try moving her bedtime up. She goes to sleep great and sleeps thru the night, but she doesn't go down until midnight! I don't want to do it all at once, so i figured i'd move her first and then start the bedtime adjustment.

As of Monday she's slept in her own crib! It's been kind of hard.. but mostly on me. I still haven't moved her cradle out of our room and i lay there facing it each night, missing her little breathing. I know she needs to grow up, that i'll enjoy all her new stages.. but it just seems to fly by... I can vividly remember the day she was born, it seems like it was just yesterday. So i was a little sad that first night. But I think this will be good for her. I've been keeping a sleep log since I moved her to see how she does, and she's already sleeping longer. The first night she fell asleep at midnight, woke up at 5 to eat, then again at 7:30 and then slept till 10:30. Last night she fell asleep at 11, woke up once and 7, then slept till 10 :).

I'm nervous about the moving of the bedtime, who knows when she'll start waking up then. I really enjoy the mornings, i can either get stuff done, or sleep in if I need to, but I know it'll be better for her if I get her to sleep earlier. So in a week or two, here we'll go! (wish me luck!)

A Day of Great Things!

First, She rolled over!! For the very first time! She did it so fast, and i just wasn't expecting it, i couldn't believe it had happened. I shrieked and told tom, then went back and put her on her tummy again, only to watch her slowly do it yet again! and this time I got pictures! :) I can't believe how fast she's growing up. I want to keep her a tiny little baby as long as I can, but it's also amazing to watch her grow. I need to just embrace it all, but i really have been sad as i've been packing away her first tiny outfits.

I had a dream last night that she started growing super fast and was as tall as i was by 4 months! And everyone kept telling me not to worry, that all kids grew at different rates and i'd have to get used to it. AHH!! I seriously woke up frantically thinking "i need to get her to the doctor!!" I was ridiculously relieved to realize it was just a dream. lol.

The second item of good new is LAPPY LIVES!!!!!! She's a miracle lappy. After lappy had bad on it's side with a fan blowing on it for so long, I decided to put the battery back in and give her a try, and she turned on just fine!! I haven't noticed any differences. I can't believe how lucky I am! She's an amazing miracle lappy! Or maybe Heavenly Father just knew I needed her. :) YAY!
